CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:  Field Technician

Description

The Field Technician provides assistance with installation, repairs, maintenance, sampling, monitoring and operations at various environmental remediation job sites including wastewater treatment facilities and refineries.

Essential Duties

  • Perform project related duties including lifting, filter press operations and other material handling tasks.
  • Operate and maintain variety of work equipment, including fork lifts, filter press, and groundwater treatment and/or soil vapor extraction equipment.
  • Monitor systems and perform preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Work on various job sites as assigned, working effectively both individually and within a team environment.
  • Collect readings and samples, including groundwater, soil and sediment samples.
  • Collect and record field data.
  • Calibrate and operate field parameter meters.
  • Identify problems on work site and take steps to resolve them directly if applicable.
  • Report quality problems and other site concerns/feedback as needed.
  • Adhere to and promote all health and safety policies, including all safety protocols.
  • Follow all Company Standard Operating Procedures for field work.
  • Keep job sites neat, clean and free of debris.
  • Interface with customers periodically.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications / Experience

  • 0-2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability and willingness to work all shifts, including extended hours, 12 hour shifts, working 7 days a week, holidays and working on an “on call” status.
  • Knowledge of and experience in environmental consulting and/or remediation, including refinery, pipeline, ground dewatering, industrial or manufacturing operations preferred, but not required.
  • Piping, trenching and excavation work preferred, but not required.
  • General construction experience preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on diverse project tasks on different job sites.
  • Ability to travel on a daily basis and for extended periods as required.
  • Excellent work ethic, communication skills and team-player attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions.
  • TWIC Card preferred, but not required.
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred, but not required.
  • N-2 or N-3 License preferred for New Jersey site work, but not required.
  • Current and clean Driver’s License.

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.  

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work at various job sites, located indoors and outdoors, including oil refineries, active gas stations, abandoned warehouses, industrial manufacturing facilities, confined space locations, excavation sites, etc. Safety equipment will be provided as needed for each site, which may include respirators. This role may also be subjected to varying, and sometimes extreme, hot and cold temperatures due to changes in outdoor weather. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk and stand for extended periods of time, work in sometimes severe weather conditions, work in varying locations that may or may not require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reach with arms and hands, and lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout shift.
